Monuments wealthness

As a result of its agitated history the monumental cities of the province are true outdoor museums , with the capital Cáceres as its best exponent.

World Heritage Site, its historic quarter is one of the most pure and better preserved of Europe: inside its Almohade walls, a great number of Palaces, churches, towers, arcs and stately homes wait the visitors to transport them to the Middle Ages.
Trujillo, crowned by a small hill where an Arabic Castle of the Tenth Century is settled, has an extraordinary monumental value, recognized in its declaration as Artistic Historic Complex. Palaces, convents and churches are fighting for the prominence inside the walled site, which still retains its access doors.
Another Artistic Historic Complex is Plasencia, where its two cathedrals are to admire, the old one and the new one. In addition to these cities of unquestionable artistic weight, the Province of Cáceres is also a land of monasteries. The one of Guadalupe is to highlight, World Heritage Site, it is an amazing building that holds inside of it some jewels as the image of the Virgin, the Gothic and Mudejar cloisters and the sacristy, with an important collection of paintings of Zurbarán.
The Monastery of Yuste is very significant, with great historic projection for having been the last resting place of Carlos I. The residence of the emperor is preserved, with objects of the monarch.
The monasteries route is completed with the convent of Palancar, which with its 72 square meters per plant is considered the smallest of the Christendom.
