Exoticism and Tradition

Varied gastronomic and festive culture

All the diversity that Axarquia treasures up is also reflected in a very wide and varied gastronomic and festive culture.

The cuisine of the area wisely nourishes itself as much from fresh fish as from varieties as exotic as the avocado, the mango, the papaya or the nispero. Also it is the land in which to enjoy the best Muscatel wine as well as excellent dishes from the mountain tradition. This abundance of produce well deserves the anual homage paid to it by the whole region with its celebrations and sampling of typical local products. The Fiesta of the Migas, of the Ajoblanco, of La Pasa, La Morcilla or the Noche del Vino are only some of the examples of these festive dates, whose fame has now extended throughout the province.
