One of the big attractions of Beturia is the Vía de la Plata (Road of the Silver), that crosses this destination from north to south, crossing the fertile prairies of Tierra de Barros, the heterogeneous landscape of Zafra-Río Bodión and the spectacular meadows of Tentudía.
Together with the Road to Santiago, the Vía de la Plata, or Mozarabic Road, is a classical among the great itineraries through the Peninsula, a travel full of history, following a route that links Seville and Santiago de Compostela. We find its origin in the Middle Ages, al the beginning of the pilgrimages to the remains of the apostle Santiago. In the Peninsular lands that were being recovered from the Arabs, this ancient Roman road turned into a new pilgrimage route, through which the Mozarabic Christians of Al-Andalus made a pilgrimage to the destination of Santiago de Compostela, so appearing the “Mozarabic Road to Santiago”.
